After performing a small task for a fishing village, our faithful heroes Lina Inverse and Gourry Gabriev get a reward in their favorite form of payment: food. Gourry triumphs over Lina after the usual fight over food and eats a large octopus. Little did he know that this very town has a curse upon it, and who ever eats an octopus is cursed to speak the octopus language for the rest of their lives! There is more to this curse than meets the eye, and Lina and Gourry are definitely in for a hand (and mouth) full.

Highs: Definitely the best Slayers flick; first time the usual cast is used in a movie
Lows: Very short; it’s just the same old thing
Being the first anime product with the Slayers name on it produced in the last few years, this is one for the fans. Normally in Slayers movies and OVAs of the past, it was just Lina and Naga. Slayers Premium is different in the fact that it uses the television cast of Lina, Gourry, Zelgadis and Amelia.
Another thing that sets this movie apart from others: length. Released alongside Di Gi Charat: A Trip to the Planet, Slayers Premium clocks in at exactly thirty minutes in length. However, it’s not all just differences from the past. This anime is also probably the funniest of all the Slayers movies. Finally for once they have a near-perfect formula for a feature film: no time to stop laughing, favorite characters from the television series, more great music and very nice, updated animation. But the length of the movie really sets it back a few steps.
Let’s be honest for a second. The other movies in this franchise are known to rush their endings, having the big bad guy defeated faster than you can say “Dragon Slave”. In Slayers Premium, however, you pretty much expect it to be condensed because of the time constraints, so perhaps it is not as disappointing as the other movies.
Big fans of Slayers will surely love this movie. If this is your first experience, then you will be confused by the amount of unfamiliar characters.
